Future Championship College
Prep Tournament-Twin Oak

This is an exciting day! We are staying at Aunt Judy's house again, but I have to sleep on the bed this time. We brought some cookies for her, and she gave us some milk buns. But I think Cameron is going to eat them all before any of us get the chance to open the box. We are practicing at Boulder Oaks again, and I am really excited since I played here two weeks ago and shot one of my best scores on this course. Also, I forgot to mention it was Labor Day weekend, so we don't have school on Monday!!!

I'm playing with Elizabeth and Victoria today. This is my first time playing with them, so hopefully it'll be fun and fast. For some reason, I'm not as nervous on the tee box; normally I get adrenaline, but today I am perfectly calm. My full swing was not close enough, and my putts kept lipping out today, but my chipping was pretty good. It was a really fun round, and I forgot to mention that Elizabeth and I wore the same shirt. I ended up with +2 for the day, and although I wanted to shoot lower, I accomplished my goal, which was to beat the course rating. Also, the pace was SO slow today, I think it took us around six hours to finish. I went to the driving range and putting green to tone up my game, and I will strive to do better tomorrow.

Today is the final day! I think I'm tied for 9th place right now or somewhere near that. I recognize two players, Alyson and Iris, who I'm playing with today. I played with Iris at Olivia Links, and I saw Alyson in the playoff two weeks ago. Today, I got a little nervous off the tee, but my nerves went away after I hit my drive down the middle. I had 3 birdies in a row on the front nine, but I had two bogeys after that. I made 18 footers and in for birdie. I read the line right and gave it a good stroke; therefore, it went into the hole. So, I ended up with -1 on the front nine. When I was drinking out of my water bottle, a bug somehow flew into it, and it went into my mouth. It was so disgusting I immediately spit my water out.

Now onto the back nine. I remember barely making par on holes 11. I putt it too long and had to make in a 15 footer for par; thankfully, I made that putt. The next hole was really unexpected. The wind was helping our ball, so I decided to swing really fast to try to gain more distance. I ended up pulling the ball towards the bunker, but it rolled out and went onto a steep hill. The distance was 90 yards, and I took out my wedge and hit it as hard as I could through the thick rough. It ended up short, and I had a 90 footer for birdie. Trusting my putter, I hit the ball and it rolls into the hole. My first birdie on the back nine! The next hole I put the ball 6 feet from the hole, and I got birdie on that too. Same with Hole 13, I had a 12 footer, which was a downhill left to right putt, for birdie, and I made it! That was 3 birdies in a row! I had a total of 6 birdies for now. This next hole was silly. I hit a perfect fairway off the tee; however I ended up pulling the ball a bit and I had a 26 yard chip. I chipped it too much, and I had a 18-footer for par. I ended up missing it, and now I was at -3. Hopefully I can make more birdies. I ended up parring the next 3 holes, or the final three holes. Now the waiting has begun. I was anxious, for I had to wait for 2 more groups until the girls finished. I was tied for first so far, but the leader could easily shoot an incredible score on the back nine. I began eating my grapes on the hill, and if I remember correctly, there was a huge gap between two of the groups. Finally, I see the leader group hitting their third shots, and I believe they all got par on that hole. Finally, we were done!

After waiting another 10 minutes for the scores to come in, I could not believe my eyes. I won!!! This was my first win this year, and I was so excited! Not only did I do so well, but I had also replicated my score from last tournament. This boosted my confidence so much, and it put my family in such a good mood. My sister and mom also got me In and Out, so that was exciting. Now, that wraps it up; another great tournament at Twin Oaks. Obviously I couldn't have done it without my number one supporters, my mom and dad. Also, my coach helped me fix my swing so much before the tournament, and I truly am grateful for everyone who helped me improve my performance. FCG really is a great place to meet new friends and is very organized. Twin Oaks never fails to keep their course in great condition, and their green conditions never fail to amaze me. Hopefully, I can play this course again soon, and I look forward to many new and exciting adventures!
